Derby Day 2012

On May 5, more than 350 people gathered in support of GAR Services and celebrated the Kentucky Derby with an old fashioned Kentucky Faire. They visited 8 tasting booths, bid on auction items, had a chance to win a beautiful diamond ring (compliments of Ray Gould), and partake in a live auction. The live auction  featured such items as trips to Hawaii, Cambria, Palm Springs, and Caribbean. There was also an entertainment package which  included prime tickets to the Hollywood Bowl (box seats), Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Alex Theatre and more. A lucky bidder won a Tea for 12 and another won a wine tasting at Red Carpet in Glendale. Golf Packages, Disney packages, private dinners prepared by our Executive Director Sandy Doughty and by our own Chef, Paolo Sacca, were also bid on during the live auction.

Our master of ceremonies for the afternoon was Lawrence and Gregory Zarian, who, along with their brother Vincent,  accepted on behalf of their father, Larry, the Campbell Award of Excellence. More than $82,000 was netted from the event, which provides the much needed funds for our clients programs at GAR. Thank you to all of our loyal and new supporters!  We couldn’t have done this without you.

Derby Day 2011

Thank you to all of our friends and supporters for attending and supporting our annual fundraiser, Derby Day. The day began with the Kentucky Derby followed by a fabulous Silent Auction. We honored our long time GAR Services friends, Irv and Peenie Currier with the Campbell Award of Excellence. It was a magical moment as Irv and Peenie were escorted to the stage by their four sons. Senator Carol Liu, Glendale’s Mayor Laura Friedman and many friends and family surrounded the Curriers with love and affection.

ABC’s Ric Romero then hosted our Live Auction during the dinner hour.

More than $84,000 (net) was raised for GAR Services!
